THE PLACE

In the canton of Valais, Zermatt is a destination renowned as much for its skiing in winter as for its hiking and much more in summer. High-quality accommodation and restaurants, a car-free village, high mountain peaks all around and the Matterhorn, the mythical mountain recognisable from all others… this is an atmosphere like no other! It’s a destination in a class of its own, to be discovered with the seasons, particularly from May to October:
• In spring, the snow is still there, but with the days getting longer and the temperatures rising, it’s time to swap the skis for cycling and hiking equipment, for example! Nature reawakens and with it, endless possibilities for excursions into the mountains.
• In summer, at the foot of the glaciers, in the green pastures, on the banks of the mountain lakes… the Alps await you! Zermatt is home to 38 peaks over 4,000m high that you can climb, hike or mountain bike to enjoy the fresh mountain air and breathtaking views.
• Autumn is a time of natural splendour, when the larch trees take on their most beautiful colours and the sky takes on its purest azure hue. The mountains are nothing but splendour, and this is an incredible time of year to enjoy them.

ACTIVITIES

The high mountain
There is no shortage of must-see peaks in Zermatt.
. Among them, the Breithorn can be a great experience, ‘My first 4000m’, at the top of the Klein Matterhorn. A memorable ascent supervised by professionals, ideal for team-building and sharing intense moments.
. For a less sporty but just as exhilarating outing, a train takes passengers directly to the summit of the Gornergrat and its rocky ridge at 3000m. There, a panoramic platform offers a splendid view of the Matterhorn.
. The Rothorn is also a great option for a magnificent panorama, with the Matterhorn in your sights. It’s a great starting point for some challenging hikes.
