The power of four
Aspen is a historic resort in Colorado, the former mining town has been transformed into a posh resort, but it’s not just that: it’s dynamic and offers plenty of events for young people and families.
There are 4 very different ski areas: ‘Ajax’ is more sporty and complete; ‘Highlands’ is wilder and reserved for freeride enthusiasts, frequented mainly by locals; ‘Buttermilk’ is dedicated to freestyle and beginners; finally ‘Snowmass’ is larger, easier and also more popular.
You can get there directly by plane, and as the resort is a long way from Denver, it’s fairly quiet at weekends, as city dwellers don’t make the day trip.
